so it finally happened, our little girl turned one over the weekend. i still can't believe it. she 's not a little baby anymore!
to celebrate we had family over and made hot dogs, pink lemonade and pink lemonade cupcakes. i'm really not much of a baker and this was my first time baking cupcakes, so thankfully they turned out! especially since we waited until 12:30 to bake them and guests were arriving at 3:00. i already know of one thing i will do differently next year..........
the cupcake recipe was from here (we even ended up having the same little jellie topper! totally by accident.) and it was so easy and tasted delicious. i can't find the recipe i used for the buttercream but will post it as soon as i do.
make them. you will be glad. trust me.
to welcome guests we strung some bunting i made out of pale yellow, grey and pink fabrics i had, keeping with the pink lemonade theme. and i also made some pink pom poms (a la martha) to try to distract attention from the sad looking planter at our entrance. (note to self, fix that.)
i made some cushion covers using some amy butler fabric i had kicking about. i also made a long bunting banner to help pep up the grey wall of the garage. and more pom poms.
cushion cover made by me using 'dagmar plaid' by alexander henry. of course more bunting. i became obsessed.
it was a fun day!

Happy Birthday to your sweet little girl! I love all the decorations you made, beautiful!
I love the straws, where did you get them? I think I 'need' some too.
such a cute idea - can't believe she's 1 already! happens so fast. love your patio chairs!
That is the cutest birthday party. Pink lemonade! I think drink themed birthday parties are a fun idea! Mine would either be a spicy caesar or a chocolate milkshake though. Would those drinks still work as parties? Or maybe it would be Coors Light. Everyone can cut the sleeves off their t-shirts and we can start tire fires in the yard.
One year though. Wow. Happy Belated Birthday Alice!
thanks everyone! it was a pretty fun day!
sonja- the straws i picked up at room6 in deep cove a while back. but if you search on etsy you can find heaps
